Vietnam e-visa — step by step
Vietnam issues an e-visa to citizens of all countries for stays up to 90 days, single or multiple entry. Apply online at the official portal, upload a photo and passport page, pay the fee, and receive the e-visa by email — no embassy visit needed.

Apply on the official e-visa portal
Use only the official portal (evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn). Fill the form with your passport details, planned entry/exit dates, and port of entry. Avoid third-party "e-visa" sites that charge extra for the same government-issued document.
Upload photo & passport page
Upload a recent portrait photo (straight face, no glasses, white background) and a clear scan of your passport data page. Files must meet size and format limits; rejected uploads are a common cause of delays.
Pay the e-visa fee
Pay online by card. The fee differs for single vs. multiple entry (around US$25 single / US$50 multiple). The fee is non-refundable. You receive a registration code to track status online.
Wait for processing
Processing usually takes 3-5 working days. Track with your registration code. Do not board before the e-visa is issued — airlines check it at check-in.
Receive the e-visa by email
You get a PDF e-visa by email. Print the full A4 page in colour (black-and-white is sometimes refused by airlines/immigration). Check the passport number, dates, and entry type match exactly.
Travel with the printed e-visa
Carry the printed e-visa with your passport. Immigration stamps the stay period at entry. The e-visa port must match where you actually enter — changing the entry port after issuance can require a new application.
Where you are most likely to get stuck
- !Using look-alike third-party sites that resell the same government e-visa at a higher price.
- !Printing only part of the e-visa or in black-and-white — some carriers/immigration refuse it.
- !Mismatching the entry port: the e-visa is tied to a port; arriving elsewhere may invalidate it.
- !Booking flights for a date before the e-visa is issued — airlines verify it at check-in.
